United St Saviour’s Charity has been supporting Southwark’s people and communities for over 500 years. While the borough has changed, inequality and hardship remain. Our work focuses on strengthening Southwark’s community sector. Supporting local organisations that make the borough fairer, more connected and more resilient.

Our approach to funding (2025 – 2030)

Our community investment approach is built on learning from the Community Investment Review (2024), the State of the Sector report by Community Southwark, and feedback from partners and grantees.

We are a place-based funder, supporting local organisations only, guided by three shared principles from Southwark’s 2030 strategy:

• Equity: Fair access through tailored or targeted support to achieve equal outcomes

• Empowerment: Building autonomy, self-determination, and acting on one’s own authority

• Prevention: Addressing problems early, before they become more serious or costly. Helping people belong and feel safe, healthy, and happy for longer

Our aim is to be relational, proportionate and collaborative. Simplifying processes, aligning with other funders, and focusing our role on learning and partnership rather than transactions alone.
